We start our adventure from Puros, a small Himba village in Kaokoland. From here we enter the Skeleton Coast National Park via the beautiful Khumib river, steadily making our way to the coast where we will camp for our first night.
The fun starts here as we head north along the beach until we reach Bosluisbaai where we will head into the dunes to our camp for the next couple of days. Here we unpack our vehicles and appreciate the luxuries of the warm showers & flusing toilets... The dunes around the camp provides a haven against the ever persistent wind, and also makes for the biggest sandpit for the younger ones. They just cannot get enough of the wide open, safe and clean space around them!
For the next couple of days we will keep ourselves busy exploring the Kunene River Mouth area. It is truly spectacular! The diverse wild & birdlife will keep our ornithologists on their toes, whilst the majestic dunes makes for the best adult playground where man & vehicle will be thoroughly tested. The sea also provides and we will catch a few fresh kabeljou (cod) or steenbras for the fire...
On day 5 we pack our vehicles and head back south to Angra Fria where we turn east and exit the park. Here we wild camp on one of the last dunes before we reach the rugged gravel roads of Kaokoland. Our last night is spent at Puros Bush Lodge & Camp.
